About

This site is run by one person, from Japan. Here is who that is and why this exists.

I built these cars

Before I came to Australia I worked at Toyota in Japan, on final assembly. That is the last stage of the line, where a car stops being parts and becomes a car. I spent my days with panel gaps, trim fit, torque settings and the small things that decide whether a body still feels solid twenty years later.

It is an unusual background for someone running a listings site. It is also the reason I am comfortable telling you what an auction sheet does and does not prove.

Then I saw them here

I have been in Australia since June 2024 on a working holiday programme, and I will be here until February 2027. In that time I have lived and worked across most of the country.

WHERE I HAVE BEEN Adelaide · Perth · Tasmania · Brisbane
Sydney · Melbourne · Cairns · Canberra · Uluru

Somewhere along the way I started noticing cars I recognised. Not just Japanese models, but the exact ones I had worked on, right-hand drive, thirty years old, still going. Seeing something you helped build running on the other side of the world is a strange feeling. It is the reason this site has the name it does.

Why this site exists

Friends I made here kept asking me the same questions. How do I get one from Japan. Is this agent legitimate. What does this sheet say. Someone had sent them a photo of a Japanese auction sheet and they had no way to read it, no way to check it, and no way to tell whether the price they were quoted was reasonable.

I could read the sheet. That was the whole of my advantage, and it turned out to be worth a lot to them. So I built the thing I kept explaining out loud.

From February 2027 I will be based in Japan, where the cars and the auctions are. That is deliberate. Being in the market the stock comes from is the point.

The name

輸出車
yu-shu-tsu-sha — an exported car

Say it aloud in English and it comes out as you should, sha. The Japanese word for an export vehicle and an English sentence telling you to go and get one. That is the joke, and it has been the working name since the first day.

How I stay independent

I am paid a success fee by the broker or dealer, and only when a sale actually completes. No money passes through this site, and I do not take a cut of what you pay for the car. You deal with the seller directly, on their terms.

I do not run free trials, charge for leads, or accept payment for placing a car higher in a list. If a fee arrangement would change what I tell you about a car, I would rather not have it.

I am not licensed to give financial, credit or insurance advice in Australia, and I do not. Where this site links to those services, it links and nothing more.

Get in touch

If you are looking for a particular car, or you are a broker or dealer who wants to list stock, I read everything that comes in.
