LAST UPDATED — SEPTEMBER 2026

This site earns money. Here is exactly how, so you can weigh what you read accordingly.

We are paid a flat fee by the seller when a car sale completes, and we earn commission on some product links. No seller can pay to rank higher, and nothing on this site is a recommendation about insurance or finance.

Where our money comes from

Success fees from brokers and dealers

When you buy a car you found here, the broker or dealer pays us a fixed fee. You pay us nothing, and no part of the price you pay for the car is passed to us.

The fee is flat. It does not increase with the price of the car, so we have nothing to gain from steering you towards a more expensive one.

Affiliate links on parts and services

Some links to parts suppliers, tools and shipping services are affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, we may receive a small commission. The price you pay is the same either way.

Affiliate links are marked, and your browser will show you the destination before you click.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell placement. No broker or dealer can pay to appear higher in a list, to be featured, or to have a car promoted. Listings are ordered on their own merits.
  • We do not charge for listings. Sellers pay nothing to have stock on this site. If no sale happens, we are paid nothing.
  • We do not soften what an auction sheet says. The grade and damage codes we publish are what the inspector recorded, including the unflattering ones. A fee arrangement does not change them.
  • We do not accept payment for editorial content. Nothing in our guides is sponsored, and no company has paid to be mentioned in one.

Insurance and finance

We are not licensed to give financial, credit or insurance advice in Australia, and we do not give it.

Where this site lists insurers or finance providers, it lists them. Nothing more. There is no ranking, no comparison, no recommendation and no suggestion that one is better suited to you than another.

We do not arrange loans, we do not pass your details to lenders or insurers, and we do not assist with applications. Anything you do with those companies is between you and them, and you should get advice from someone properly licensed before committing.

If we receive any payment in connection with those listings, it will be stated on the page where they appear.

Our parts site

YOU SHOULD, SHA. Parts is our sister site for parts after the car arrives. It does not sell anything itself: its “View on eBay” buttons are eBay Partner Network affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.

Why we tell you this

You are considering spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car you cannot inspect, guided partly by what you read here. You are entitled to know what we stand to gain from each thing we tell you. Anything less and the information is worth less.

If you ever think something on this site reads like it was written for our benefit rather than yours, say so. contact@youshouldsha.com
